Mája, Mary, esomary, krvavamera, (c) merry, Mary Meixner – Marie Meixnerová’s (* 1986) personality and artistic expressions are characterised above all by her thoughtful transformations of identities, her courage to go to the core and her astonishing work productivity. As a media theorist, she has consistently reflected on non-art aesthetics, the post-internet and social networks through her extensive publishing and editorial activities (25fps, Flash Art, Fotograf, Cinepur, A2, etc.). Her activities in this field culminated in the realization of the pioneering anthology #mm net art – internet art in virtual and physical spaces of presentation. She was influenced fundamentally by her work as a dramaturge of the PAF Film Animation and Contemporary Art festival in Olomouc, which literally got under her skin when she had the PAF logo tattooed on her arm as a performative art project.

She approaches her own work with a similarly intense personal commitment. Under the artistic pseudonym (c) merry, she has over the last five years emerged as a leading representative of net art – but she categorically resists such a label by constantly changing her creative strategies. As an artist primarily associated with the internet environment and the glitch aesthetic, she has increasingly begun to transplant her performative physical acts from her short streaming videos to a gallery setting. The leitmotif of the multimedia installation is the principle of the algorithm, of controlled chance, which is related to issues such as misinformation, manipulation, deceit, the treatment of information and privacy (both one’s own and that of one's friends), and influence.

The author herself perceives the algorithm as a mirage, an illusion, a veil, a false guide to the interpretation of reality with an ulterior purpose, as something power-motivated, beholden to various stereotypes, and reinforcing a conserved perception of reality. The practical reflection of this attitude is the personified but automatically generated horoscopes and purposefully created personality tests, which are currently being distributed on a mass scale through social networks. From their diction, (c) merry materializes an image of her own future.
